Well hello there, beautiful thing!!

Every year these spiky, leafy stalks grow randomly around my yard, and I have cut them down. I thought they were wild onions or something. This year I didn't cut this one back. I thought I would see what happened. What a surprise I got when this pretty little flower bloomed one day. It kind of looks like an iris, but it's much smaller. Any ideas what it is? Whatever it is, it makes me smile, so I won't be cutting them back anymore!!
